Advancing research, dialogue, and regional cooperation on global affairs.

What CIASS Does
CIASS is an interdisciplinary policy think tank that brings together academia, policy institutions, and strategic communities to advance research on India's relationship with Southeast Asia. Working under the aegis of the Shankardev Education and Research Foundation, the Centre draws on perspectives from history, strategic affairs, economics, governance, culture, and security studies to build a comprehensive understanding of the region, with particular attention to Northeast India's role as its gateway.
Our work spans research, policy advisory, capacity building, and documentation. We produce evidence-based publications and working papers, organise seminars, conferences, and training programmes, and provide informed policy inputs to governments and institutions engaging with Southeast Asia. Through these efforts, we aim to strengthen Northeast India's connectivity with ASEAN, preserve the shared civilisational ties between the two regions, and build lasting partnerships with universities, think tanks, and research organisations working on Indo-ASEAN studies.
